3. Replacing Highways: A different approach to transportation planning (Mar 9)

Due to social justice, economic and environmental concerns, some expressways that were built through established urban areas in the 1950s and 1960s are now being removed to free up space for development and people. This webinar will discuss several examples where highways were downgraded to arterial status, buried underground or not replaced.

While highway planning and operations receive most of the public’s attention, there are many details pertaining to construction and operations that go unnoticed – unless something goes wrong. 7. Highway Stakeholders: Diverse perspectives on the future of highways (May 4)

Business and non-profit stakeholders with an interest in commuting, goods movement, jobs, land use planning and the environment discuss whether highway networks should be expanded, enhanced and/or replaced. Speakers and agenda to be posted soon!
